@beautifultrees07 and I drove from Los Angeles to Chicago and I got pulled over on a Texas highway because we didn’t know that in Texas, you’re not supposed to drive in the left lane unless you’re passing other vehicles. whereas in California, if you want to drive slow, you should stay in the right lanes, and the left lane is typically just the fastest lane. so like, in California, it is perfectly acceptable to stay in the left lane for miles, but not in Texas
I was watering my plants this morning and went to spray down the compost pile…and I found Yellow Oyster mushrooms from my spent oyster mushroom block FRUITING once again out of my compost! It looks like the oyster mushroom mycelium is starting to colonize and eat leaves in the compost so I spread more of the myceliated leaves throughout the pile and surrounded them with additional cardboard pieces. I’m so happy they’re continuing their life cycle! (Also: I keep that weird cage on top of the pile because there’s a hummingbird that likes to perch on it while eating compost flies)

I had these little satin tags made to stitch into my quilts. I also ordered some in a different font/style but they got lost somewhere in my room. I’m thinking of adding these to all my future quilts because they’re so insanely labor intensive and I don’t want to be erased as the creator/quilter

Trying to baste the bias tape along the edges today, I don’t have time to finish it but I’m trying to make a little progress for when I have more time
Currently working on another hexagon quilt (cat pictured for scale). You can probably tell this one is “floral” themed. If you’ve seen my other hexagon works in progress, it’s also made using the English Paper Piecing technique which involves basting fabric to paper and then hand-sewing the edges. The paper can be removed after all 6 edges are surrounded. The fabric maintains the exact shape of the paper, which is important when piecing more complex shapes with varying angles. It would be very difficult to match everything up without this technique, since free-handing it on a sewing machine would require a lot of turning and super precise measuring of seam allowances

Update on my floral hexagon quilt & my cat. I’ve successfully quilted this (attached the top to the batting and backing) and I just have to bind the edges with bias tape! I’ve chosen an orange color for the edges
Good morning! I’ve just added a new listing to my online shop! You can add on a surprise randomized vintage scientific illustration mushroom sticker if you want a little bonus mushroom! My shop link is here if you’re interested!

Here’s a pretty good display of all the possible sticker types available in the sticker packs! Sticker packs are available in the online shop! Link is here.

My tortoise woke up from hibernation this week; here he is chillin in his favorite dirt patch. Today I gave him hibiscus sprinkled with ground eggshells for calcium

Underside of the hexagon floral quilt top. I’m nearly done binding it at this point so I will never see this underside again! Throughout working on this, I had to stop and admire areas where color combinations were really working. This area is one of my favorites.

Just recently packed more stickers; this is what they look like before adding labels. There’s gilled mushrooms, cup fungi, morels, coral fungi and more! Available in my online shop here.
